Why do I see hope?
Legal causes:The Factory Act 1948 and Building Other Construction Worker (BOCW) Act 1996, make it compulsory for any industry or company, or any corporate organization to recruit safety representative and also to create a safety culture. These constitutional parameters bound the Indian industries to recruit new safety workers at any cost.
Economic reasons: In the past twentieth century, the world had witnessed the radical growth of India’s several premier engineering institutions like IITs and various other central universities. Since their inception, they have immensely contributed to the technological advancement which in return, assisted to bring an inclusive economic growth in the different corner of the world. But today, the dynamics of the world-economy and as well as our national-economy is shifting its poles in a rapid pace. According to the recent statistical analysis, India alone is going to face a surplus boom of labourers, in the following decades. Thus, this huge rush of labour needs to manage in a wise way. As the country moves towards a technology-driven economic vision, all of our industries and urban societies would require this huge number of labour force to harness their profitable outputs. And perhaps this is why our honourable prime minister, Mr Narendra Modi has accentuated the need of nurturing a strong and highly skilled labour industry which would be able to handle worldwide challenges and difficulties. However, in order to facilitate such a vast number of skilled labours in the upcoming future, we, first need to educate modern youth with adequate industrial learnings. Here, we need to go for some solid capacity-building-missions, which would prepare the entire generation to face the futuristic technical challenges. Therefor, Indian youth, according to this changing scenario, needs to go for industrial training and skill development programme, especially because of the vast amount of job opportunity in this section. However, in this case, safety management jobs are not an exception. The future of this section is bright and full of opportunities. There is more than a dozen of industries that are already recruiting quite a good number of safety workers. As of now, industries like construction and real estate, aircraft maintenance and manufacturing , cargo & shipping, power & steel plants, refineries, textile and cotton, iron & mining, food & packaging companies are already recruiting a huge number of semi and full-skilled safety workers in India and as well as in abroad.
